Same place..
Same pose..
Same people..

After more than 5 years, we left for Krishnapuram on 2020 Valentine's day late evening by podigai express.
Krishnapuram is a small village near Kadayanallur, Thenkasi.
We had been there long time ago, much before  Abhaya- my sister, Mani athimber, Meena and Bhattacharya jee built their retirement bungalows in this beautiful scenic village. They now live here in great peace, with western ghats behind them, an overflowing branch of ganges river just a few yards away and  greenery allover.
(Read the sthalapuranam of jaya veera anjaneya temple to know the story of ganges that runs here)

We visited the temple of Jaya Veera Abhaya Hastha Anjaneya on the day we arrived. Since it was  a saturday it was full of devotees from near by villages. This temple has the distinction of being a holy place that can be traced back to the Ramayana. There is a reference to this place in the Kishkinda Kandam of Valmiki’s Ramayana. The figure of Hanuman in Krishnapuram is symbolic of great valor, strength and undying loyalty. He inspires people and as he was a messenger of Lord Rama, is worshipped as a deity who will willingly answer prayers. This place used to be known as Kishkinda Puram and has become Krishnapuram over the years. The Temple is located on the beautiful scenic background of western ghats, with green paddy fields all around.

Mani athimber came all the way to Kadayanallur station which was not very far away from Krishna puram. It's a beautiful simple home with all the conveniences required for senior living,  neatly planned and executed, for this wonderful retired couple who had put in a lot of  hardwork in their younger days. All of them here are either our cousins or some distant relatives. Just a handful of houses, more cousins to retire and start building their relax house. It's a very similar concept like the readyly available senior living community, but costumized to your needs, nobody drops you here but you build it on your own, and you may leave the place for an exotic holiday as and when you wish. Waiting for my turn!

Abhaya hastha Anchaneyar and my dear sister Abhaya- both their hands can do magic- former, with your life and the later with your appetite.
Since Abhaya stayed all her life in Bhopal, Jamshedpur Bushwar, we had typical  north indian ghar Ka Khana, She makes the thinnest rotis nicest sabji and the bestest dhal. Athimber being the health consious person, gave us fruits nuts and 'apna haath ka bana'  sugarless smoothies made out of local fruits for breakfast. Boiled raw papaya smoothie with a pinch of saffron was my favorite. Very filling and tasty.
Abhaya cooked healthy stir fryies out of pasala Keerai, karpooravalli, manathakali keerai, all of these  were served with hot rice and ghee, on vazha ilai plucked fresh from behind the house. Disposal of these leaves we had an easy way out, through the window which later got used as manure in the garden. Guava, Papaya, coconuts, bananas and  murungai are grown in abundance. Some of them used, some sold and some shared with neighbors. It's a very peaceful place to live in, far away from our dear dirty daring dreadful dream land Chennai. Poles apart, though not geographically, this place was a great escape for us from the regular routines of Chennai.
We did some vegetable and Kari ( charcoal stove) aduppu shopping at Kadayanallur. After tasting baingan bartha made in choola (coal stove) by Abhaya, we wanted to get it and use it to get closer to that ultimate taste. Athimber stuffed some garlic and chillies into the baingans that made the smoky taste even more out of the world.
Shankaran koil in local bus was another experience that stole our hearts. The people in the bus were simple, fair and accommodative, though the seats were very cramped. The conductor was friendly, helped us elite at the right place and spoke to us in the beautiful dialect unique to the Thirunalveli people.
Athimber took us to Ayakudi Murugan temple and Thenkasi. Vadam vathal shopping at Anjaneya, a small shop where we shopped in our last visit, only to return back with a longer list this time. Their products are mild in salt and so are our favorites.

Aavarampoo  kashayam for vatsan's sugar,  tulasi kashayam for my horrible throat were given to us time and again. We really felt cured, healthy and lovingly taken care.
Meena, athimbers sister and Bhattacharya were so warm and happy on our arrival. But they were a bit angry that we took so long to come back. They treated us with dahi vada and kozhambu vadams.

Simple life, simple food, simple conversations....simply superb.
Simplicity is the best city, and I want it with all pomp and show.

Unless one has done some good deed in their previous birth, one wouldn't get a chance to go here- is my take on this place.
I am Keeping fingers crossed till I retire.
